June 29th Meeting

6:30 PM, Beginners Q & A

7:15 PM: On Wednesday, June 29th, there will be a meeting with presenter and Member George Wilde  who will  discuss the WWDC conference announcements.

At the June 29th SBAMUG meeting George will discuss Apple’s significant new products announced during this month’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. These products include two new MacBooks incorporating a brand new and faster M2 chip. Apple also announced updates to the system software on all current Apple devices. These updates include macOS 13 (named Ventura), iOS 16, iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9 – all with many exciting new features and available free later this year.

May 25th Meeting

7:15 PM: On Wednesday, May 25th, there will be a meeting with Podcaster Allison Sheridan who will  discuss the CleanshotX App.

Allison titled the presentation “CleanShot X Might Be the Best  Screenshot & Annotation Tool I’ve Ever Used”  The App has many additional features beyond the Mac OS and preview for screenshots and Annotation; which she will discuss.

Allison has presented several times at our group in the past.

April 27th Meeting

The South Bay Apple Mac Users Group has been around for over 30 years. We are a group of 72+ Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch aficionados.

7:15 PM: On Wednesday, April 27th, there will be a meeting with Jim Pernal who will  discuss Adding Additional Display Monitors to your Mac.

The Presentation at the April 27th SBAMUG meeting will first discuss the Mac OS Sidecar and new Universal Control that will let you use your iPad and/or other Mac computers as additional displays without needing to buy and connect other monitors

Next we will briefly discuss monitor specs and buying decisions. Links to monitor buying guides will be given.  Then we will discuss the various types ports on macs to connect displays.  Finally some example hookups will be shown.

March 30th Meeting

The South Bay Apple Mac Users Group has been around for over 30 years. We are a group of 72 Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch aficionados.

7:15 PM: On Wednesday, March 30th, there will be a meeting with Kent McDonald who will lead the  discussion on new Apple Hardware.

The Presentation at the March 30 SBAMUG meeting will suumarize the new-product announcements by Apple at their virtual “Event” on March 8, 2022. Some hardware products have new colors and/or new processor chips.The upgrades involve  iPhone, iPad, Mac and Display hardware. Hopefully we will hold a discussion by our members regarding the absence of the hoped-for announcement of a new 27 inch iMac based on M1.

In the Beginners Q&A session, the Units conversion function of the Mac Calculator App will be demonstrated.

February 23rd Meeting

7:15 PM: On Wednesday, February 23rd, there will be a meeting with Kent McDonald who will lead the roundtable discussion on Carbon Copy Cloner.

The February General Meeting Presentation will describe how to use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup the main drive on your Mac. If you have upgraded the operating system to Big Sur or later, the backup procedure is different. Attendees are encouraged to relate their experience with backup approaches that find helpfull. A roundtable discussion is expected.
